What’s on Spring 2023

From garden walks, an art workshop and Art Trail exhibition, to the return of our popular Nocturnal Wildlife Tours and Night Watch Experience, there is something for everyone to enjoy this spring.

Regional Wildflower Garden

Spring has arrived on the South Coast and our Regional Wildflower Garden and Australian Wildlife Park are bursting to life with beautiful blooms, new animals, and a range of wonderful springtime activities for all ages.

From garden walks, an art workshop and Art Trail exhibition, to the return of our popular Nocturnal Wildlife Park Tours and The Night Watch Experience, there is something for everyone to enjoy these spring school holidays. Plus, we are OPEN all long weekend!

At 1pm every Monday and Friday this season, excluding public holidays, you can join a Garden Highlights Walk & Talk through the Regional Wildflower Garden. Each walk focuses on what is flowering and will give you an opportunity to discover some of our regions hidden treasures.

During the school holidays, have a go at our scavenger hunt activity while exploring our Wildflower Garden’s paths and boardwalks, you never know what you might spot!

Seven local Albany artists from Phoenix Fine Arts have joined forces this spring to create Phoenix Arising, an art exhibition and sale as part of the 2023 Southern Art & Craft Trail. This free exhibition features a wonderful variety of artwork and is on display and sale from 23 September to 15 October, gallery open 9am to 5pm daily.

Learn the delicate art of watercolour painting and explore marine themes with Albany artist Helen Heerey at her Watercolour Marine Workshop on Thursday 5 October. Through Helen’s guidance, you will explore the underwater world and come away with new watercolour skills and your own artistic version of our underwater world.

Our popular Nocturnal Wildlife Park Tours return for two Friday nights only, 29 September and 6 October. Meet our amazing Aussie animals and passionate wildlife keepers on this twilight tour. Join our keepers for an hour long guided tour and discover our nocturnal furry, feathered and scaly wildlife in a whole new light – including our NEW, and very cute, Squirrel Gliders! Bookings are essential, as places are limited.

Also returning this spring is The Night Watch Experience on Friday 6 October. Step aboard the old Cheynes IV for a night like no other. Joining our past whaler tour guide, you will discover their personal stories from the chasers’ historic past while exploring parts of the ship in a thrilling twilight experience. Included after your 50-minute tour through the Cheynes IV ship is a delicious meal at Whaler’s Galley Café, as part of their monthly Friday night dinners. Bookings are essential, as places are limited.

Spring is an ideal time to enjoy our region, and the spring activities we have planned will delight visitors and locals alike.
