Painter (Part-Time)

Posted 06/05/2025

Discovery Bay Tourism Precinct Ltd, home to Albany’s Historic Whaling Station museum, Australian Wildlife Park, and Regional Wildflower Garden, is looking for a reliable and capable painter to join our hands-on maintenance team.

We’re a busy, award-winning tourism precinct open every day of the year except Christmas, welcoming visitors from all over the world. With a wide range of buildings and spaces on-site, your work will directly contribute to the overall visitor experience — and you’ll get to do it all in an extremely beautiful location overlooking King George Sound.

About the Role:
This is a practical, varied role suited to someone who enjoys working indoors and outdoors on a mix of projects — from touch-up jobs to supporting larger infrastructure and preservation works. You’ll contribute across the museum, café, gift shop, wildlife park, gardens, and six residential houses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interior and exterior painting and surface prep
  • Minor repair work and upkeep across public and staff spaces
  • Assisting with broader infrastructure projects and upgrades
  • Maintaining tidy, safe work zones and following WHS procedures
  • Supporting the team to maintain high presentation standards across a leading tourism site

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous painting experience (trade qualification preferred but not essential)
  • A strong eye for detail and pride in your work
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and willingness to help where needed
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive team
  • Availability across a flexible schedule (minimum 3 days/week)

What We Offer:

  • A flexible role that suits your lifestyle for the right candidate
  • A friendly, professional team in a heritage-tourism focused environment
  • A chance to work across a wide variety of spaces and projects
  • And best of all — the opportunity to work every day in an absolutely stunning and iconic location
