Albany’s Historic Whaling Station is the home of Australia’s last whaling company, and now provides a fascinating insight into Albany’s colourful past. Recognised as a heritage site, we are an engaging and educational tourism attraction for all ages.

As part of the Australian Heritage Festival and to celebrate International Museum Day on Saturday 18 May, join us for an exclusive experience at 9:30am or 2:00pm, to delve deeper into Albany’s unique whaling story.

The experience starts with a special guided tour through the whaling station by one of our knowledgeable guides. Find yourself immersed in the sights and sounds of the whaling industry, discover what it was like to work for the Cheynes Beach Whaling Company, and why it closed in 1978.

Then climb aboard and explore the Cheynes IV, the world’s only preserved and accessible whale chasing ship, and finish the experience with a relaxing morning or afternoon tea at Whalers Galley Café.

National Trust members will also receive a complementary Historic Whaling Station souvenir gift bag, valued at over $20.

The tour experience and morning/afternoon tea is approx.1 hour and 45 minutes in duration. After which, you will be able to self-explore the remainder of the Historic Whaling Station exhibits, plus our Regional Wildflower Garden & Australian Wildlife Park.

Bookings are essential.
