Leeuwin the Le Grand Photography exhibition

The spectacular southern edge of Western Australia will take centre stage in our retail gallery this month when Great Southern photographer Ruben Martinez’s exhibition Leeuwin to Le Grand opens on Monday 15 November.

Martinez has visited and photographed the region for many years before moving to the Great Southern permanently about 20 years ago. He is interested in the urban and rural built environment, and in the way that agricultural activity fits into and becomes part of the landscape, which is his main photographic inspiration.

His land and seascapes are often photographed under one of the dramatic ‘cloudscapes’ which characterise the ever-changing southern skies, and which do so much to determine the quality of the light.

The Leeuwin to Le Grand photography exhibition depicts scenes along 800 kilometres of Western Australia’s southern edge, between Cape Leeuwin in the west and Cape le Grand, south-east of Esperance. The exhibition features both colour and monochrome framed and unframed images, taken using digital and film cameras. All photographs are available for purchase during the exhibition period.

Leeuwin to Le Grand is on display from Monday 15 November to Sunday 19 December, retail gallery open 9am to 5pm daily.
