Regional Wildflower Garden

Wetlands

The development of the wetlands within the Regional Wildflower Garden was a collaboration between engineers, landscape architects and specialist water and botanical consultants to collect and utilise the 1.5 million litres of stormwater each year.

The solution is an organic bio filtration system comprising of five interconnected ponds in the wetland area. These ponds progressively collect and settle sediments. The indigenous plant species filter out pollutants as the water moves down through the system.

The wetlands are home to frogs, insects, reptiles and birds which have created yet another ecosystem specific to this unique south west location.
