The Last Season - Sunset Concert
The first event of our 40th Anniversary commemorative series
This year is one of significance for Albany’s Historic Whaling Station and community, as it marks 40 years since the closure of the Cheynes Beach Whaling Company in 1978 and the end of whaling in Australia.
To commemorate the 40th anniversary Albany's Historic Whaling Station will host a series of events and exhibitions throughout the year, commencing in March with a family friendly concert. The range of events and exhibitions focus on significant events from the last whaling season of 1978 and culminate around the 40th anniversary in November 2018.
The Sunset Concert is Albany's Historic Whaling Station's first concert from The Last Season - 40th Anniversary (1978 - 2018) series of events, and marks what was the start of the 1978 whaling season.
Enjoy an evening of music for the whole family at the Sunset Concert, featuring rousing vocals of The Albany Shantymen. Bring a picnic & rug and relax on the grass around the whalechaser ship, or enjoy the sausage sizzle, coffee and ice creams available.
Thursday 8th March 2018 - Doors open 5.15pm, concert 6pm - 7pm.
