Summer School Holidays
Whaley Great Activities Galore!
Join us these holidays to take part in a variety of whaley great children and family activities as part of the our summer school holiday program.
In the week leading up to Christmas our new whale skeleton will be installed, a Pygmy sperm whale. Not a great amount is known about Pygmy sperm whales, which only grow up to three metres in length, with most information coming from beach strandings. However, one unique feature of the Pygmy sperm whale is that they can expel ink like a squid to defend themselves during an attack. See our Pygmy sperm whale skeleton installation process in action from Monday 18th to Friday 22nd of December.
We are open every day over summer including the public holidays, only closed Christmas Day. Spend a day exploring Albany’s unique whaling history and climb aboard a real life whaling ship, wander the boardwalks in the Wildflower Garden and get up close to friendly Australian animals in the Wildlife Park.
From Monday 8th January our holiday program continues with three weeks of fun activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy! From creating paper mache whales, past whaler’s high seas tales, a drawing competition and summer sausage sizzle, Albany’s Historic Whaling Station is a hotspot for holiday fun this summer.
