Fill a whole day with family fun this spring at Albany’s Historic Whaling Station. Explore our unique whaling history, relax in the Regional Wildflower Garden full of blooming West Australian plants and discover the friendly Australian wildlife, and so much more.
Plus, during the school holidays families can take part in a spring themed trail in the Wildflower Garden. The trees and shrubs are all starting to burst into flower and October is the perfect time to enjoy the spectacle. Wander along the wetland boardwalks and wildflower garden paths to discover all about the unique and beautiful plants that call Albany home. Bring along a picnic lunch and relax in the barbeque facilities while you enjoy the amazing views over King George Sound.
We are open every day over the long weekend, including the Queen's Birthday public holiday!
Spring Wildflowers are now Blooming!
Relax this spring in our Wildflower Garden featuring thousands of stunning native plants and an enhanced wetland environment. Our wildflower ‘living murals’ are now bursting into colour, with Banksia, Wattle, Boronia, Mrytle, Bottlebrush, Kangaroo Paws and so many more!
It is a nature photographer’s paradise featuring dozens of wildflower specimens, all endemic to the South West region of W.A.
Open 10am to 5pm daily (only closed 25th December), and entry is included within our admission ticket.
The Night Watch Experience - Friday 4th October
Step aboard the old Cheynes IV for a night like no other. Joining one of our knowledgeable guides you will explore cabins in the deepest parts of the ship, as well as the galley and eating mess, and hear what really happened on board. Being aboard after dark and hearing the various crew stories really brings the history to life!
Included after your 50-minute tour through the Cheynes IV ship is a delicious meal at Whalers Galley Café, as part of their monthly Friday night dinners. The Night Watch Experience runs from 6-8pm on the first Friday of each month only, spaces are limited so BOOK early to avoid missing out.
Albany Plaza Shopping Centre Pop-up
If you are visiting Albany Plaza during the holidays, make sure to stop by and enjoy the free whale themed children’s activities on offer, weekdays 1st to 11th October, 11am to 2pm. Have fun getting to know our local gentle giants of the sea, brought to you at no charge thanks to the Historic Whaling Station team.
