Big Blue has arrived!
First sighting of the amazing Blue whale
The long awaited Blue whale was spotted in the King George Sound this morning, heading through the channel towards the Albany harbour around 10.30am. Shortly after 11am it was spotted near Mistaken Island, heading in our direction. Around midday we were delighted to see it resurface right in front of our site behind flat rock. The whale then blew a few times near Misery Beach before heading back out of the Sound.
We managed to capture one of these blows and you can see the footage on our facebook page here.
