End of an Era
An exhibition into the social debate and inquiry which ultimately changed Australia as a nation.
On 31st July 1978 the dramatic announcement was made by the executive director of the Cheynes Beach Whaling Company to close the whaling station and end the era of whaling in Australia.
Forty years on, we look back on the events which shaped the last season in a pop-up exhibition of previous unseen archival items, including newspaper articles from Albany and around Australia.
This exhibition gives an insight into the social debate and inquiry which ultimately changed Australia as a nation.
On display from Monday 30th July through to the 40th anniversary of the Cheynes Beach Whaling Company closure in November this year, and is included with your whaling station admission.
